The end of pride month is inching closer and we’re sad because that means no more pride festivals. But we have a lot to reflect on this month because we had so SO many fun festivals, later this month we have the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, and not to mention Taylor Swift dropped her new song “You Need to Calm Down” featuring a lot of LGBTQ celebrities (yasss queen!). But Tswift is another story.
For those who don’t know, the Stonewall riots were riots brought on by the fact that gay bars couldn’t get the proper liscense to sell alcohol because they were a gay bar. So one night at the Stonewall Inn, the police came in and arrested 13 people, which started the Stonewall riots. This started on June 28, 1969 and didn’t end until July 1, 1969.
Many editorials and blogs covered pride festivals all over the country. They were filled with laughter, glam, smiles, love, and support. Our lovely and amazing team went to Baltimore Pride in Maryland. Be sure to check out our highlights for a recap!
Vogue showed their pride this month by showing up at the L.A. Pride Parade. Way to go Vogue for sharing in the love and support. Here are some of our favorite pics Vogue took.
Refinery 29 joined the party as well.
Pride month is a time of reflection in the LGBTQ+ community. A time to think about the people who came before and fought for our right to love who we want to love. A time to reflect on who we are as an individual and as a society.
