Post on a consistent basis:
When I did research on this topic I found a lot of blog articles and postings about how you should post to different social media platforms a certain amount of times at certain times of day and those vary depending which platform you’re using. But I think that it’s less important to follow these guidelines than it is to make sure that you’re posting good content on a regular basis. For my social media, I focus more on posting at least one too two quality content posts on Instagram rather than posting from the same batch of photos every single day. It may take longer to gain followers this way, but it’s more likely that you’ll grow a following that is going to stick with you and follow your brand long term.
Find your niche and stick with it:
The online influencer world is saturated with a ton of people trying to use social media to endorse themselves or their business, so it’s important to distinguish what makes you unique and different. It’s also a plus to determine what your niche is in the online world; if you’re trying to sell clothes, get established in the fashion entrepreneur scene. If you’re selling knitted scarves, then give advice on how best to knit a particular style of scarf. Establish yourself as the “go-to” person for whatever you’re trying to do and you’re more likely to stand out in the oversaturated digital space.
Be strategic with your hashtag usage:
Hashtags are the bread and butter of social media. They’re the way that people can find content on different social media platforms so it’s important that you’re using the correct hashtags on all of your posts in order for them to reach the right audience for your brand. Make sure to use keywords in your hashtags as well so that it connects back to your content. This is the easiest thing you can do to get people in your target audience to find your content and follow you!
Make your brand consistent and recognizable:
When it comes to branding, it’s important not only to distinguish what makes you unique, but also to keep that uniqueness consistent over all your social media accounts over time. If you want to make a shift in brand design, make sure that you do it succinctly and all in one go if you can. This keeps your audience from being confused if you decide to switch things up! Having a consistent and recognizable brand gives people the ability to identify you and your business just from seeing your social media feed.
